Going to chipmunks on Saturday

 31/07/2021 

Today, my family and I went to chipmunks for my sister. It wasn't a special occasion or anything. It was just because she was always being good and she always listened to what we had said to her. 

My brothers and I haven’t been to chipmunks since… well I don’t actually really know how long we haven’t been there but hey I guess today would be the start of going back to chipmunk. As soon as we arrived it was packed so we drove around and then at the back of chipmunks there were a few parking spots. I don’t really know why no one would come to the back to find a parking spot but it's probably because they think they can’t park there but at least we get more space. 

After my dad had parked the car we all got out, and we had all walked to the entrance of chipmunks. As soon as we entered it looked a bit different. They had moved things and replaced games with new ones, but we didn’t really care. We could explore the place and that was good. 

Me and my brothers had to look after our sister while we played on the playground. I didn’t know what it was called but the playground seemed to match how it was looking. My sister just ran to the closest thing to go in and that was the ball pit. As soon as we entered there was a pipe that ran all the way through the room and the room was lit by a screen that we  would throw balls at or just smack with our hands. 

We stayed there for a while until she had finally gone out because I wanted to explore more of the place while my other two brothers just wanted to stay in the ball pit. After she got out my parents looked after her while the rest of us went to do whatever we wanted. I went out of the playground and went to see what it looked like. 

I saw three slides, two were pink and one of those pink ones was a straight deep slide down but it would go quick. Then there was the other pink and it looked like a spring going straight down.  Then we had the yellow and white slide I call it a slide because we go down it but it doesn't look like one it had like those rolling things on it but we would go straight down and there's no stopping in the middle of the slide we’d either stay on the top of the playground or go down the slide and reclimbing back up. 

There was a shooting place in the playground as well and it was huge but behind the shooting place there were these glow squares and they would light up in different shades of colour's. It would look nice in the dark every time it changed color's there were different sides of the place and it was better I guess.

Playing golf on Friday night

 Friday 30th of July 2021 

After school had finished, I thought it would be a good time for a nap since I can sleep easily both at midday and well and at night of course. Once I had woken up we had to go to paknsave to get some stuff from there and drop it off at home, easy peasy lemon squeezy. Once we did that on our way home my mum had asked “ does anyone want to go anywhere” me and my brothers didn’t know where we could even go at this time ( it was 7:10) but then she said “ how about we go golfing?” we all said “okay” and off we went to go to the golfing place. 

As soon as we arrived at the golfing place, it was full. There was only some parkings but it was on the far end. But hey where else is there to park? After we parked on the far end it was about 8:00 pm and we went inside and grabbed a golf club and went out another door and stood in line with the other people waiting for the golf ball  machine to get the golf balls. 

When we found a spot to go golfing from one spot to another we went there and we had aimed on where we wanted the ball to go and it went up and away. We had started sweating after a few hours and it was time for me to rest and one of the others to have a turn so I sat down and took some breaths. After all our buckets were done for and we wanted to go home and have a nice shower and relax so that's what we did and we enjoyed playing golf.

Walking home

 

On a clear bright day, a girl named Amelia was walking home from school with some friends. They were talking and talking about the things that they could do together when they're older in the future. Then all of a sudden three of the girls' phones beeped. They all were curious and they all looked like they had said there was a tsunami happening nearby. 

All of the girls were in a panic but they calmed down and made a plan. Ashley said “let’s meet at my house” they all said “ okay” because Ashley's house was on a tall hill and they thought that's a good decision. They all went home and packed what they needed like food,clothes, band aids and things like that. 

After they packed they went where they were all supposed to meet up at. All three of them just rested there and they were all tired and just glad they all made it the flood had already made it to land. Ashley said “ I’m glad you guys could make it” the other two said “ yeah i’m glad” they all were in shock of how much damage the tsunami had caused it was like nothing they had seen before. 

Finally the flood had been cleared out after the storm. Everything was going well and the girls were doing what they normally did every day. Nothing would go wrong….or will it?

My short story

 Saturday the 11th of July, school holidays 

Today my family and I have nothing to do, we just did what we did every other day and just slept in, watched tv and other things like that too. We didn’t really plan anything to do today and well I guess today can be a relaxing do your own thing day. I think I will just watch some horror movies or probably write horror stories. 

HAPPY MATARIKI!

HAPPY MATARIKI! 

Tonight was filled with fireworks in the sky, I hope you guys went to go and check it out. I stayed home and watched it. We thought maybe it would seem like a large crown there so we stayed home and watched from a distance. 

We heard loud bangs of fireworks launched into the sky, it was just exquisite and brilliant. We just stood outside and heard loud bangs as if someone held a large gun and just shot it right up into the sky. This Matariki celebration seemed like the best one out of all of them I have seen. 

At the end we heard applauding and it was quite extraordinary how far we could have heard it. It must have been louder there than it was at my home. We could see so much fireworks in the sky that it caused smoke to be in the sky.

Term 2 Holidays

 On Friday the 9th of July, it was the last day of Term two and my school or maybe just my space got to do a Matariki rotation, so in the morning we had just arrived at school at different times. We all put our bags on our seats and went out to play for a couple of minutes while others stayed inside and just talked. A few minutes later the bell rang and we had to go line up outside for assembly, we started walking to assembly which was the hall and then we had sat down on the ground folding our hands getting ready for assembly. 

When assembly had started Mr Burt had talked about Matariki, and what we were going to do and all the great things that were going to happen. One of the prefects had told us that we should try new things because we don’t know whether we like it or not. At least we had experience and that's the only thing that matters. 

After we talked about all of that, it was time for us to go back to our class rooms and take our rolls for the morning and then go sit on the big mat with our bags. But the teachers made a change of plans and told us to leave our bags in our classrooms because we were going to come back for lunch and morning tea. The reason why we sat on the mat is because they were going to tell us which group we were going to for the whole day and stay there to do new things and all of that. 

After everyone had found out what their groups were, we all went and followed the teacher we were with and sat down on their mat and followed what they had to say for instructions. I found out I was weaving . It wasn't bad but it was just my first time weaving. I had tried and got some right and some wrong, but at least I tried. 

Our teacher told us to try to finish it to take it home finished or unfinished but it was fine. As time was ticking our teacher had liked our hard work so she got us pizza! It was delicious and I really enjoyed it but the reason was that on Matariki we feast as a celebration of Matariki. 

We then went back to our normal classes, got our bags and went to the second assembly that was in the hall. We then sat down and watched the highlights. It was a long video of highlights from term 1-2. After that finished we had to yell out “HAPPY HOLIDAYS!” out loud to all the teachers.

How Matariki was made

 One day that came to be, Papatuanuku and Ranginui were together and their children were crouched between them. They were surrounded by complete darkness and their children were irritated and annoyed, they didn’t wanna live this way.

Tumatauenga, the god of war, suggested to beat his parents to death. But Tane Mahtua disagreed and suggested separating their parents. He would send Ranginui above leaving Papatuanuku below, she was in tears of what happened. 

Once the separation was done I was furious. I didn’t like what Tane Mahutua did at all, I had unleashed my anger onto Earth blowing strong winds into the distance. As a way of showing my pain to my brothers. Ranginui was not so happy about the separation that happened to him and Papatuanuku, he cried and cried and that had produced rain. 

Papatuanuku, had been named mother nature. After all this happened I had gouged my eyes out as a symbol of love and pain throwing it as hard as I could up above into the milky way galaxy, which had made the stars we know as Matariki. 

I am now known as Tawhiri, the blind, unseeing god I who explores land, going in all directions. This is how the constellation of Matariki came to be. The rising of Matariki signals the different behaviours from aspects of our environment.
